ADOPTION INFORMATION:

Home Sweet Home Animal Rescue is not a shelter or kennel facility. We do not have a physical location you can come view the animals at. All dogs are placed in foster homes until they find their forever homes. They are loved and cared for as part of our family!!  We are a no kill rescue, so we keep the animals for as long as it takes to find the best home for them. While in our care,  we work on basic manners, crate/house training, and socialization.
We will be able to tell the the good, as well as the not so good, about our animals. It is important for us to match the animal up with the family that is suited best for that said animal.

The first step to adopting from us is to fill out an online adoption application. Be sure to answer all questions honestly. this will help us match you up with the best animal for your family. If an animal you are applying for isn't  "the one" we keep your application and work with you to find a match. We must have an application before we can consider you for one of our animals.

Once your application is reviewed and references are checked, we will call/email the pre approved applicants to set up a home visit. We will bring the animal to your home to conduct the home visit. The home visit is required, no exceptions.  Home Sweet Home Animal Rescue has the final say in the adoption of an animal.  We only have the best interest of the animals at heart. Because of that, we may sometimes need to deny an applicant. Please understand that we sometimes get many applications for the same animal. We often do home visits with several pre approved applicants before we make our final decision. Having a home visit does not guarantee you will be approved.

Once you are approved for adoption, a pick up/drop off day and time will be scheduled. We like to make sure the new families have enough time to prepare for their new family member :) We understand houses need to be doggie/kitty proofed, yards need to be reinforced and checked for safety, and shopping needs to be done..... We don't want you to feel rushed.  The final step is the big adoption day!! Yipee! You will be required to read and sign an adoption contract at this time. The adoption fee is to be paid at time of adoption. We can no longer offer payment plans. Remember ALL ADOPTION FEES ARE NON REFUNDABLE! All paperwork will be given to you at time of adoption or mailed to you.

Regarding "Requirements"

You must reside within a reasonable distance (1 hour by car) of the Buffalo NY area.  Exceptions may be made at Home Sweet Home's discretion.  You also must be willing to drive to pick up the animal if you are far. We will not ship animals.

W e understand that each animal is different and will have different requirements. Please be sure to read the entire description of an animal before applying. We do our best to state all requirements but please understand that the more we get to know the animals, the requirements may change. We will try to update as quickly as possible.

While home owners and Fully Fenced yards go to the top of the list, that does not mean it is always a requirement(unless stated), so please don't be discouraged to apply. We strive for the best possible match. We have to take many things into consideration, including breed/size/age, male/female, personality/temperment, activity level, ages of children(if any),fencing(type and height) if any, amont of time dog will spend home alone, and many other considerations. There is much more to a dog and cat than cuteness. This is a great article to read if you are thinking of adpting-  http://www.petfinder.com/pet-adoption/dog-adoption/pet-adoption-checklist/

  ADOPTION FEE INFO:
We require a non-refundable adoption donation.  Our fees depend on the animal. Adult dogs are between $125-$250. Seniors are usually free-$100. We sometimes reduce the fee for some adult, senior dogs, and dogs with special needs for the right adopters.  Pure Breeds tend to have a higher adoption fee. Puppies tend to be $200-$300.  Puppymill dogs also have a higher fee due to the amount of vet care usually needed when they come into rescue. We sometimes get cats/kittens, bunnies, birds, hamsters, and other small animals. Their fees will vary on a case to case basis. The adoption fee is posted on the animals profile.

All the animals are spayed/neutered(puppies require a spay/neuter agreement), up-to-date on vaccinations, de-wormed, flea treated (seasonal), and some are microchipped.

Thank you for considering a rescue animal!
